DOUBLE DIGITS – Thank You Barnstable

June 26, 2013

Barnstable is a red town, but each vote for Ed Markey was added to the total that gave him a double-digit win.

Pundits are analyzing, calling Markey an incumbent. He wasn’t an incumbent anywhere but his own congressional district.

Comments like; “the machine pushed him over the edge…” “Scott Brown – Coakley turn-out vs today’s turnout,” the heat, the Bruins, schools out …. blah blah blah – every election has its own circumstances. Democrats don’t fall in line, swear to a pledge or do as they are told. That’s what makes us Democrats.

And MA relies heavily on the swing vote provided by unenrolled voters. We all did our part, from knocking on doors and making calls to contacting our own personal lists of friends family and neighbors to just getting to the polls and voting. The mid-Cape is red, that has wavered and wiggled just a little bit over the years. But when we move among the voters and have honest discussions we get results. Even though there are months until the next elections we need to keep talking about the issues, national and local.

Thank You to Sue and all of her hard-working volunteers!

… and Congratulations!

**ELECTION DAY – TODAY** we have a challenge for you!

June 25, 2013

DSC_0587Driving by the polls this morning – things seem a bit too quiet.

So here is a challenge:

Get out and vote and make sure that at LEAST two other people you know who will vote for Ed Markey also get out and vote.  Don’t just tell them – FOLLOW UP.  Ask them to let you know what the count was when they voted – give them something to report back to you.

Today, make yourself responsible for more than your own vote.  Remember 2010?

Leave a comment – tell us how, even if you haven’t been part of a team making calls or knocking on doors, you were responsible for more than your own vote today!

Wondering where to vote? This form tells you what precinct you live/vote in:
