Pundits are analyzing, calling Markey an incumbent. He wasn’t an incumbent anywhere but his own congressional district.
Comments like; “the machine pushed him over the edge…” “Scott Brown – Coakley turn-out vs today’s turnout,” the heat, the Bruins, schools out …. blah blah blah – every election has its own circumstances. Democrats don’t fall in line, swear to a pledge or do as they are told. That’s what makes us Democrats.
And MA relies heavily on the swing vote provided by unenrolled voters. We all did our part, from knocking on doors and making calls to contacting our own personal lists of friends family and neighbors to just getting to the polls and voting. The mid-Cape is red, that has wavered and wiggled just a little bit over the years. But when we move among the voters and have honest discussions we get results. Even though there are months until the next elections we need to keep talking about the issues, national and local.
Thank You to Sue and all of her hard-working volunteers!
… and Congratulations!
Rob, former state senator for Cape Cod, has been speaking to groups throughout the Cape about our collective waste-water issues and possible regional solutions.

The Barnstable Democratic Town Committee regular meeting will be held prior to Rob’s visit, at 6:15 pm, and is open to all registered Democrats. We will be discussing important issues regarding membership, endorsements and elections.

The Barnstable Democratic Town Committee welcomes State Treasurer Steve Grossman May 15, 2013 at 7pm at the Centerville Rec. Building on 524 Main St. in Centerville. Link to map
Steve was elected treasurer in 2010, since then Steve has delivered on his promise to put all Treasury contracts out to competitive bid, Grossman saving taxpayers over $11 million in reduced service fees and administrative costs. He has established the Small Business Banking Partnership, which has deposited over $250 million of Treasury cash reserve funds in community banks to help grow Massachusetts small businesses and promote job creation. And by reforming management practices and utilizing innovative marketing approaches, Grossman oversaw a record-breaking fiscal year in 2012, with the Massachusetts State Lottery earning an unprecedented $981 million in net profit for taxpayers and the Unclaimed Property Division returning over $93 million worth of cash, stock and mutual funds to their rightful owners.
This meeting will be open to the public, please join us for updates on his initiatives followed by questions and answers.
The BDTC regular meeting will be held prior to Steve’s visit – at 6pm – our regular meeting is open to all Barnstable Democrats.
