Steve Grossman to speak at our next meeting
May 1, 2013The Barnstable Democratic Town Committee welcomes State Treasurer Steve Grossman May 15, 2013 at 7pm at the Centerville Rec. Building on 524 Main St. in Centerville. Link to map
Steve was elected treasurer in 2010, since then Steve has delivered on his promise to put all Treasury contracts out to competitive bid, Grossman saving taxpayers over $11 million in reduced service fees and administrative costs. He has established the Small Business Banking Partnership, which has deposited over $250 million of Treasury cash reserve funds in community banks to help grow Massachusetts small businesses and promote job creation. And by reforming management practices and utilizing innovative marketing approaches, Grossman oversaw a record-breaking fiscal year in 2012, with the Massachusetts State Lottery earning an unprecedented $981 million in net profit for taxpayers and the Unclaimed Property Division returning over $93 million worth of cash, stock and mutual funds to their rightful owners.
This meeting will be open to the public, please join us for updates on his initiatives followed by questions and answers.
The BDTC regular meeting will be held prior to Steve’s visit – at 6pm – our regular meeting is open to all Barnstable Democrats.

Don’t miss the St. Patrick’s Day Parade this Saturday!
Cape and Islands Democratic Council Announcement
Please join your fellow Democrats marching in the annual Cape Cod St. Patrick’s Day Parade Saturday March 9th, 2013. As always, the Yarmouth Democratic Town Committee has reserved a slot for all Democrats in this years parade. Our position is B21 and will be assembling on School St (off Rt 28) Dennisport, 9:45 am. Bring your banners, candidate signs, friends & families, and join Congressman Keating, Senator Dan Wolf, State Rep Cleon Turner, County Commissioners Mary Pat Flynn & Sheila Lyons and other Democratic officials. All candidates have been invited.
We expect the R’s will be out in force. Help us have a strong showing by marching in support of our elected Democrats and candidates.

Markey is running for the U.S. Senate seat just vacated by Sen. John Kerry when he became the Secretary of State. The primary is April 30. The Special Election is June 25.

February 5, 2013In light of the special senate election scheduled for June 25., the Democratic State Committee voted to reschedule the 2013 Platform and Youth Conventions in Lowell to Saturday, July 13th.
